… “Manilyn (not her real name) sat toying for a moment with the rosary upon her fingers, looking down; then, seeing that woe-began expression that had fastened upon the face of her companion, she sprang up, embraced her colleague, and, restoring thus–as she knew she could do–merriment to her manner.”

I’m sure most of us know somebody who has been in an abusive relationship. And it’s not an easy subject to discuss, we need to make women be aware that one does not need to stay and subject herself to abuses.

“A wave that washes the shore starts with a single drop of water.” Every day is a battle for Filipinos as we face problems that demand national attention and cooperation from all citizens and residents. The breeze on a typical day passes silent cries for help as we, Filipinos, struggle to make a good name for ourselves. Check.

Transverse cracks.

Length. 302 centimeters.

Width. 2 centimeters.

Probable cause. Significant volume of large trucks passing.

Heat and Sweat

I was designated the team leader of this round of monitoring. I have been part of the first round, and I found myself the only remaining ‘veteran’ for this round. Half of the team is UP 3rd year political science students while the other half are from the Bantay Banay volunteers of Lihok Pilipina.

Kaabag sa Sugbo

Cebu City – On April 26, 2010, eight Cebu City government-owned Kaohsiung buses were held at a checkpoint conducted by police officers in Barili, Cebu. Eight of the fifteen buses were travelling without the necessary plate numbers and registration papers from the Land Transportation Office.

Although the strict implementation of the country’s traffic laws by the Barili Police Office is commendable, Kaabag sa Sugbo and the Philippine Misereor Partnership (PMP) – Central Visayas Cluster Human Rights Committee assert that the enforcement should also take into consideration the circumstances and conditions of those involved in the violation.
